Since 1998, Maroon Out has inspired current and former students alike, bringing the 12th Man together at the biggest home game of the season. Along the way, we’re proud to support traditions like Elephant Walk and Ring Dance, as well as the Class Gift, Maroon Out Scholarship, and the Aggie Rings for Veterans Endowment. Thank you for being a part of this journey.
Maroon Out was founded by Class of 2000 Junior President Kyle Valentine in the summer of 1998. That year, Nebraska was a top ranked football program, and the Aggies were scheduled to play them at home. Seeing that Nebraska’s ardent fans showed up to every game wearing red in an effort to intimidate the other team, Kyle wanted to give the Aggies that extra boost of spirit by matching Nebraska’s sea of red with an even bigger sea of maroon. Maroon Out was born that year at the Texas A&M/Nebraska game on October 10, 1998. The Aggies went on to win in a huge upset over No. 2 Nebraska. That Maroon Out game led to a national shortage of maroon shirts after 31,000 shirts were sold for the game. Now, Class Councils sells over 45,000 shirts each year in support of Aggie spirit, traditions and scholarship. All proceeds from Maroon Out benefit Class Councils, Class Gift Funds, Aggie Rings for Veterans Fund, and the Maroon Out Scholarship.
